Relocate from Arizona (to another state)

• Immediately report a change to your residence address, your mailing address, your e-mail address and your telephone numbers. If the licensee is an individual, use the Insurance Professional License Update System (IPLUS) to update the residence and mailing addresses and telephone numbers.
• Keep your business address in Arizona until you obtain a resident license from the insurance department in your new home state.

• Many states will require you to cancel your Arizona resident license in order to become licensed as a resident in the new home state. To do this, submit a request for a clearance letter (Form L-CLR). See the "Clearance Letter" section below for important instructions.

STEP 3: Notify us that you have your new resident license within 30 days of obtaining the resident license in your new home state. ARS § 20–287(B).

• Send e-mail to Licensing@azinsurance.gov containing the following information:
  • Your full name (first, middle and last);
  • Your ARIZONA insurance license number; and,
  • The state to which you relocated and your insurance license number in that state.

STEP 4: Report your change of business address within 30 days after you move. ARS § 20-286(C). If the licensee is an individual, use the Insurance Professional License Update System (IPLUS) to update the all address and telephone information.

CLEARANCE LETTER

To become licensed as a resident in another state, you may need to cancel your Arizona resident license and may need to provide the other state a "clearance letter," which certifies to the other state that you were licensed in good standing as of the date your Arizona-resident license was canceled.

To cancel your Arizona license and request a clearance letter, submit the original of Form L-CLR with a $3.00 fee for each clearance letter you need.

BE CAREFUL! Form L-CLR provides you two choices. If it is even remotely possible that you may continue to act as an insurance professional in Arizona, select the "I am RELOCATING..." option. If you select the "I am SURRENDERING..." option, you will be barred from reapplying for an insurance license in Arizona for one year after the date you surrender the license. ARS § 20-289(F).

If you select the "I am RELOCATING" option on Form L-CLR, report your new business address to us immediately after the insurance department in your new home state issues a license to you.
